On the eve of the opening of the 13th annual Sculpture By The Sea (SXS) exhibition, which sees over 100 pieces installed along the clifftop walk from the south end of Sydney’s Bondi Beach to Tamarama Beach (or “Glamarama” as its known to some), I thought I’d share some of my images from the last three years as an official SXS shooter.

While the sculptures themselves make for great viewing and interesting subject matter, I’m looking for those moments where life imitates art as onlookers interact with a particular piece or where the landscape/weather combine with a  sculpture to create something visually appealing, and of course there’s always the ever-changing light, be it sunrise, sunset or anything in between. Basically I look to make, well, art out of art.

There aren’t many better places to call your “office” - an open-air beachside art gallery full of great work from Australian and international artists, where you get plenty of exercise and fresh air. As I pack my bags for a yet another sunrise sculpture session, I hope these inspire you to get along to the exhibition and shoot some of your own…
